Interpretation Philosophy
As a geophysicist, my focus is to assist my clients in maximizing the rate of return on their investments through the application of detailed orientated geophysics. We must use all the data at hand, and except nothing less than the highest standards of data acquisition, processing and interpretation.
The days of simply drilling structural highs on seismic data with the hope of encountering profitable reservoirs are essentially over. We need to use all the seismic data as it relates to reservoir rock properties so we can identify and map directly the hydrocarbon filled rocks that will yield the highest rate of return. Finding hydrocarbons is simply not enough; finding them in the most efficient and profitable manner is what I achieve for my clients.
Most seismic data sets, regardless of age, contain much more information than just structure and amplitudes. It’s particularly important to note that stacked amplitudes actually consist of smeared rock properties such that their meaning is ambiguous at best.
